Borescope Inspection of a Cylinder of a KIA 1.6 Engine

Here's another borescope video that had a practical purpose (in addition to being fun). My car is coming up for an oil change, and I always precede the oil change with an intake cleaning. I usually use either CRC Intake Valve and Turbo Cleaner (my personal favorite) or Seafoam Intake Valve Cleaner; but Berryman Intake Valve and Combustion System Cleaner does a bit of a better job of cleaning the combustion chamber, but is more expensive.

So basically, the borescope inspection helped me decide which product to use based on the severity of the deposits.

There are some deposits in the cylinder, but not enough to affect performance in any meaningful way. I think this time I'll just put a can of Techron Fuel System Cleaner in the gas and use the CRC product. Also, KIA specifically recommends the Techron. Maybe next time I'll use the Berryman if the deposits get any worse.

This video was shot using a DEPSTECH DS-450 Dual-Lens Industrial Endoscope, using both the front-facing and side-facing cameras. It's quite a nice borescope for the price. The video was edited using Magix Movie Edit Pro Premium.
